Andalusia

In October I spent some time in southern Andalusia at the 13th International Festival of Spanish Keyboard Music - lucky me! Harpsichordist and festival founder Luisa Morales and I played a program of Mozart, Haydn and later 18th-century Spanish music, and were joined in a few pieces by dancer Cristobál Salvador.

Very interesting symposium, lots of great people from many musical walks of life. I'm very grateful for the support received from the Canada Council for the Arts.

CHAUVON – Les nouveaux bijoux

New CD featuring eight of the twelve Tibiades, short suites by François Chauvon published in Paris in 1717.

Chauvon - Les nouveaux bijoux

Chauvon dedicated these elegant, whimsical, and occasionally eccentric pieces to his teacher François Couperin. In the tradition of Couperin's Concerts Royaux (and other works), we perform these works with varied instrumentation, sometimes tutti and sometimes solo. Washington McClain, baroque oboe; Michael McCraw, baroque bassoon; yours truly, traverso/recorders; Charlotte Nediger, harpsichord; Julia Wedman, baroque violin. Wonderful colleagues, fun results!
