Gallery Players of Niagara: Apollo’s Vengeance
St Catharines, ON, Canada
LIVE & VIRTUAL - Co-production with Capella Intima & North Wind Concerts A 17th-century Roman serenata inspired by the figure of Apollo. Conceived as a pastiche, the concert weaves together instrumental works, operatic excerpts, readings and canzonettas to evoke an afternoon’s musical entertainment of the period. The programme is imagined in the spirit of those cultivated gatherings associated with Queen Christina of Sweden during her Roman patronage, reflecting the intimate yet theatrical musical culture of Baroque Rome.
